Fly Screens

Fly Screens for windows and doors

There are various types of fly screens to suit different situations. They can be permanent or removable and made to fit almost any window or door, giving protection against flies whilst allowing ventilation.

The most popular for regularly used doorways are the durable strip curtain mesh doors and the aluminium chain screens, as pictured below.

Aluminium Chain Screen Door

Inexpensive and easy to fit, so they only need to be in place when they are required, an aluminium chain screen door allows ventilation whilst providing an adequate barrier against most insects. This is a popular option for regularly used doorways

Mesh Strip Curtain Door

Each curtain is held securely to a polycarbonate plate which in turn is hooked onto a Stainless Steel track. The weighted strips hang down to form a flexible curtain that can be easily passed through, yet fall back into place – a cost effective curtain for any width openings. Use it where it is not convenient to site a screen door. Individual mesh curtains can be integrated with plastic curtains to gain some ventilation. Replacement strips are easily obtained and require only the original polycarbonate plate refitting to the new strip to restore the full curtain. This curtain is not suitable for retaining heat and is not effective in windy areas – not recommended for apertures used by wheeled conveyances.

  • Removal – The Stainless Steel track is permanent. Unhook individual strips.
  • Maintenance – The Stainless Steel track requires no maintenance. To clean the strips, remove and immerse in warm soapy water, shake off excess water and re-hang.
  • Technical – Polyester 48x32 weave, Black, Ventilation 73%, Standard sizes up to 200mm wide x 2.4 metres drop. Available up to 3.4 metre drop.
  • Guarantee – 12 months on all workmanship under normal wear and tear.

Mesh Screens for Windows and Doors

Manufactured from standard plastic coated fibreglass mesh fitted within an aluminium frame, this fly screen can be adapted to fit any type of window or door, providing a permanent, or semi-permanent fixture which will exclude flies or insects, whilst still allowing ventilation.

Windows can be hinged and made with a sub-frame, to allow for operation of opening handles. These are particularly useful in kitchen and food preparation areas.

Doors can be standard, with plastic coated fibreglass mesh, or heavy duty, with a stainless steel mesh that can’t be damaged if kicked, as often happens in busy kitchen areas. Various doors suitable for different areas are security doors, heavy duty doors and two way doors, but most requirements can be accommodated.

Pictured below are the Security Door and the Two Way Door.
