Rabbit Control
The key to gaining good control, where rabbit numbers are high, is to assess each individual situation and environment on its own merits, so the method or combination of methods we would use is dependant upon many factors.
We often carry out extensive gassing programmes which, combined with a range of more traditional methods and the experience of our team, provide an appropriate approach for the nature of the land on which we are working, ensuring maximum effectiveness, sensitivity and good control.
We have a great deal of experience of working in highly sensitive areas; SSSi’s, ESA’s and organically managed land, for which our more traditional approaches are ideally suited.
Control of bracken
Using specially designed equipment, we spray bracken over large areas during the months of July and August, mainly using the chemical Asulux. We specialise in treating remote and relatively inaccessible areas where the use of heavy machinery or helicopters is not permitted due to the sensitivity of the area, typically SSSi’s and ESA’s, where a considered approach is essential.
Weed control
In addition to bracken, we regularly kill off areas of thistles, docks and nettles for landowners of both rural and commercial sites. All other invasive weeds or brushwood can be treated, without damage to non-target species, which may be present in surrounding areas. This is achieved through careful chemical selection and the use of knapsack spraying for spot treatments, with weed wiping carried out over larger areas.
Please contact us for advice on:
- Japanese Knotweed
- Giant Hogweed
- Himalayan Balsam
- Aquatic Weeds
Most of our rabbit and bracken control work is carried out for long term, government funded projects or as part of stewardship schemes for landowners. These have included work for The National Trust, Yorkshire Water, Limestone Country Project, Natural England and Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Trapping
Using instincts gained through years of experience, our employees are experts in trapping and we have developed and manufactured our own design of traps for use in different situations. Trapping is the ideal method for relocating small mammals and birds, which may be posing a threat to certain species populations, without the need to carry out a cull.
We have carried out large scale Pigeon trapping work, worked on Canada Geese and even Peacocks.
In addition to the above, we offer a range of specialist monitoring and surveying services, and would be happy to discuss any projects for which these would be required
